Yes. Your firm portal is created the moment your subscription goes through, along with your own yourfirm.taxpin.app address. There is nothing to install.
Getting startedTurn on two-factor authentication (TOTP), set your firm name, logo and languages, then invite your clients. The dashboard shows this as a checklist and ticks items off automatically as you finish them.
Getting startedYes. Import it from a CSV in one go. A name and an email is all each row needs, and addresses that already exist are skipped automatically.
Getting startedYes, with no limit on how many. Invite them from firm settings; staff can only see clients belonging to your firm.
Getting startedSwitch on “business return” on the client and they get separate folders for personal, business tax documents, and payroll. You pick the folder when sending or requesting, and anything the client uploads in reply lands there.
Getting startedNo. They open the link in the invitation email, set a password, and they are in. It works in any phone or desktop browser.
For clientsA “To do” card sits at the top when they log in — signatures, payments, uploads and questionnaires, each with its own button. The card disappears once everything is done, so no card means nothing is waiting on them.
For clientsYes. Tapping a requested item opens the camera so they can shoot and upload on the spot. They can upload several at once, and delete anything they sent by mistake.
For clientsYes. Each client sees the portal in Korean, English, or Spanish. Messages are translated automatically, so you can write in your language and your client reads it in theirs.
For clientsYes. Documents stay organized by tax year, so clients can open and download them any time. That alone removes a lot of “can you resend last year’s return?” email.
For clientsNo. Family and custom fields on the client profile, and internal notes, are firm-only. They never appear on the client’s screen.
For clientsEncrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS in transit. No permanently public URLs are ever created — every view and download goes through a signed link that expires.
SecurityNo. Firms are isolated at the database level with row-level security, so another firm’s account cannot query your data at all.
SecurityYes. Views, downloads, deletions and signatures are written to an audit log, and e-signatures additionally record IP address and timestamp.
SecurityTaxPin is built to provide the technical safeguards those rules call for — encryption, access control, multi-factor authentication, audit logging and backups. Compliance also depends on your firm’s written information security plan (WISP) and how you operate, not on software alone.
SecurityYes. Deleted documents sit in a trash area for 30 days and can be restored from there. After 30 days they are permanently removed.
SecurityThe database supports point-in-time recovery, and stored files are backed up daily to a separate provider. The backup credentials have no delete permission, so copies survive even if originals are removed.
SecurityNo. TaxPin charges no platform fee on what your clients pay you. Only the card or payment processor fee applies.
BillingSend an invoice and a Pay button appears in their portal. They pay by card or bank transfer (ACH). Once it clears, the invoice flips to paid and a receipt is available to download.
BillingYes. Send the document locked as “pay to unlock” and the client has to complete payment before it opens.
BillingUse the ⋯ menu on the invoice row to mark it paid. Cash and check payments stay on the record too.
BillingAttach a signature request when you send a document and a Sign button appears in the client’s portal. They type or draw their signature, and the signed copy is generated immediately and kept on both sides.
E-signatureYes. Turn on “firm also signs” when sending. After the client signs, the request waits for you, and once you sign the final copy carries both signatures.
E-signatureNot yet. The IRS requires knowledge-based authentication (KBA) when Form 8879 or 8878 is signed remotely, and TaxPin does not offer KBA yet. You can use it today for engagement letters, consent forms, powers of attorney and similar documents that do not require KBA.
E-signatureYes. Every page of the signed copy carries a light “electronically signed” watermark, and a certificate page with the signing time and IP address is appended at the end.
E-signatureThey expire after 30 days by default. Expired requests are shown as expired and the Sign button disappears for the client. You can simply send a new one.
E-signature$500 per firm per year. Staff and clients are unlimited, and the price does not go up as you add people.
PlansYes. Request a free trial and we’ll review it and send you a setup link. Trials have a cap on the number of clients.
PlansNo. Pricing is per firm rather than per seat, so ten clients and five hundred clients cost the same.
PlansYou can download your documents as ZIP files by tax year before you leave. We do not hold your data hostage.
